Burchfield family 6 month photo shoot

I was so excited about this shoot for so many reasons. I mean, look at Emory! It doesn’t get much cuter. She just learned to sit up a couple of weeks before this shoot and I knew we would be able to get some great shots. She is a beauty and I love shooting this family. The love they share is obvious and they are just so fun to be around. My favorite part of my tadpole sessions are seeing these beautiful babies grow. This little cutie has grown so much and I am lucky to capture her and her wonderful family during her first year.
This shoot was also one of my first shoots with my new Nikon D600. Let me say I am in love with the quality, the ISO sensitivity and the overall feel of this camera in my hands. It was so good to get great information about this camera before hand and I have not been disappointed. I got my camera through Photography Bay, a blog I follow. Let me say, if you are a photographer or interested in photography and are not following this blog, you are missing out.
I hope you love these photos as much as I did shooting and editing them!

Stout Proposal and Family Shoot – Kilpatrick Springs Farm

As a photographer we are often part of something special…well capturing it anyway. We capture wedding days, newborn babies, growing families, high school seniors, and many other special events in a lifetime. However, it’s so rare that you get to be a part of something as intimate as a proposal. It is a very hard feat to pull off in the first place! A potential fiancé would be somewhat suspicious of a lurking photographer in the midst. Secondly, it is an extremely intimate and personal experience for two people in love.
I was recently asked to be a part of a wedding proposal, and I was a little more than thrilled to participate. I have known Randy and Melissa for quite some time. A couple of days before Valentine’s Day Randy met with me to buy one of my gift certificates to get Melissa as a present for Valentine’s Day. He told me then what he had planned. I’m fairly certain I might have squealed like a girl. I was so excited! I loved the idea! We started putting it all together. To be honest, with two men doing the planning there wasn’t much of a plan, but we came up with a decent signal for the go. I am so thankful that they let me be a part of this day with them.
While doing this shoot, It occurred to me how much I love marriage and being romantic and big families. I love what I do because I get to be a part of something special almost every day. I hope you enjoy the photos. Have a blessed day!

Believe Workshop at Smithview Pavilion

You know how you have one of those experiences that changes everything? Well, this was one of those! We went to the Believe Workshop hosted at the beautiful Smithview Pavilion. Our day was spent with some of the best in the industry filling our heads with so much goodness it was hard to take. Kathleen and Joe from JoPhoto gave us so many tips about SEO, lighting, and marketing that we began to wonder how we had ever even been discovered, and if what success we have had, has happened purely by accident. Then Kristin from KLP Photography allowed us to see how we needed to and were really ready to rebrand ourselves. We want to reach the clients that want us and that match us. Casey with Nicholas and Keaton Videography finished up by filling us in on how we can better sell our product. It was both insightful and hilarious – and if you know us, you know we like hilarious.
I know, I know, now you’re asking how it changed everything? Well…what do you think about this blog? We are also getting ready to rebrand ourselves and make all the aspects of Jayson Mullen Design and Photography flow like they should.
So, what can I tell you. We look up to these folks. They are at the top of their game and only getting better and it is something we strive to do as well. I can’t thank them and the beautiful Smithview Pavilion enough for letting us hang out and learn. I mean, not only did we get a ton of knowledge, but it was like a mini vacation without the kiddos there. Check out some of the awesome shots we got while working with these amazing photographers top notch people and as we look into our future, remember what my friend Jack Handy says. “When you’re riding a time machine way far into the future, don’t stick your elbow out of the window or it will turn into a fossil.”
